Dawn Swanson of New Dawn Health is a Traditional Naturopath specializing in helping people to achieve their health goals. Dawn has a Doctor of Naturopathy Degree. Message from Dawn
My involvement in alternative natural medicine began when I sought help for my own health challenges. I had rheumatoid arthritis and other chronic health problems, and I was unable to get well by following the conventional medicine route.
Through a homeopathic practitioner, I learned that I had Celiac Disease, a genetic intolerance to gluten, which is a protein found in many grains and foods. In Celiacs and those with gluten intolerance, the immune system attacks gluten, destroys the digestive tract, and leads to a wide range of health complications including widespread inflammation, auto-immune diseases and cancer.
Celiac Disease turned out to be the root cause of my problems. After a dramatic change in diet and lifestyle, every single one of my symptoms disappeared. This experience shed light on health problems that had run rampant throughout my entire family.
I knew I had discovered my life's path - to help others identify the underlying causes of their symptoms, embark on a path of health and healing and achieve optimal wellness.
About Naturopathy and Homeopathy
Naturophy, also known as naturopathic medicine or alternative natural medicine, is an integrative and holistic medicine approach that can incorporate patient education, dietary and lifestyle modifications, homeopathic remedies, detoxification, nutritional supplements, and natural therapies. The roots of naturopathy can be traced to Ancient Greece and the Vitalistic School of Medicine which began sometime around the year 400 B.C.
Homeopathy is a 200 year old natural remedy system that stimulates the body's own healing abilities. A homeopathic practitioner will identify a specific homeopathy, or remedy, based on the individual's health challenges. Homeopathic remedies may be in the form of tiny pills or drops. SpectraScan is a medical grade biofeedback device. Using painless electrodes connected to the body, or by using a hair sample, a SpectraVision practitioner can test the body's Meridian and Kinetic systems, and quickly obtain computerized feedback that provides precise insight into stresses on the body, such as food intolerances.
This type of testing is fairly new to the U.S., although it has been used in Europe and Eastern countries for centuries. In the last few years with computer technology, the testing has become fast and accurate enough to be utilized in the U.S.
